In recent years, the study of the phenomenon of hybridity in translation has been a hot topic in translation field. At the same time, the study of hybridity in Chinese-English translation has come into sight of the scholars with the promotion of China’s international status. The study of hybridity in translation from the perspective of post-colonialism, exactly benefits the spread of Chinese culture as a weak culture to dominant cultures in the process of C-E translation, and dismantles the hegemonism of dominant cultures, which will help the heterogeneous cultures to survive and develop.Big Breasts and Wide Hips is a representative work of Mo Yan who won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2012. There is plenty of cultural information in this work, at the same time, his work also reflects the political characteristics of C hina in different periods. Goldblatt’s translation of Big Breasts and Wide Hips not only complementarily conveys the cultural information in original texts, but also considers the reading phsycology of western readers and the readability of the version. His version adopts different translating techniques, which make the hybridity in translation reflected adequately. This thesis is based on the case of the version of Big Breasts and Wide Hips translated by Goldblatt to study deeply on the phenomenon of hybridity in translation from the perspective of postcolonialism, which finds that in the process of translation, hybridity is inevitable. At the same time, this thesis also discusses the obvious advantages of hybridity as a kind of translation strategy. According to analyzing the hybridity in the aspects of morphology, sentence str ucture and figure of speech in the version of Big Breasts and Wide Hips, this thesis discusses further from the perspective of postcolonialism and defines the relations between hybrid strategy and other strategies—domestication, foreignization, and reproduction, which find the inevitability and necessity of hybridity. At last, from the aspects of three translating standards equivalent translation, style likeness and native translation, the criteria of hybridity will be discussed. According to analysis and d iscussion, the writer finds that the hybrid translation strategy from the perspective of postcolonialism not only benefits the spread of weak cultures, but also benefits the diversification of global culture, which will dismantles the cultural hegemonism a nd help the heterogeneous cultures to survive and develop.
