Growth is an old and recurring theme in the history of western literature. The Bildungsroman show individuals’ transformation from natural man to society man by depicting the process of hero cross from the confused and ignorant young man world to the adults’ world. In the Western tradition of the Bildungsroman, although the development of the heroes also mixed with growing anguish and worry, over all, it shows a values of fit of personal pursuit and social mainstream, the heroes finally achieve the perfect fusion of the individual and society. Modern Bildungsroman 20 th century exhibit characteristics different from the traditional. Modern Bildungsroman of young people continue to suffer growing Heartbreakers traumatic experiences, they are a group with a real social misfits, lost their lives in the direction of the mental anguish of weak groups.Hosseini’s novels not only inherit the traditional Bildungsroman formulaic narrative mode, but also exhibit more characteristics of modern Bildungsroman.Hosseini is an Afghan-American writer, he uses Afghanistan as his novels’ background.The novels reflect not only the difficulties and trauma during the growth of young people, but also metaphor the difficult growth of the ancient Afghanistan people in the modern international environment closely linked with the Afghan imagery. The first chapter of the main body of this paper analyzes Hosseini’s personal experience of growth. The growing individuals experience from the anxiety and confusion out of the adults’ world to the traumatic experience of "adult ceremony". The second chapter perspective trauma and growth of the Afghan nation from the attitudes they treats female Islamic burqa culture, the change of village of Shadbagh and the kite imagery symbol of national spirit.The third chapter discusses the relationship between social culture and characters’ growth. Individual faces different difficulties and suffering of two forms of growth in the totalitarian society and multiculturalism, on the one hand, the hero of the novel make anti-growth stance against totalitarian society, which not only reveals individuals’ growth and social development of twisted and torn from young people grow up inrebellion and struggle with a totalitarian society, but also lets us peep into the glorious beauty from humanity. On the other hand, the multi-cultural identities of Afghan immigrant youths in the novel make them face difficulties seeking identity in the process of growth. Finding a balance between homeland culture and American culture is an important test to their growth.Hosseini’s novels are rich of implications under Bildungsroman, while Hosseini’s wonderful interpretations make contribution to the modern initiation stories on the basis of l inherits the growth of the narrative mode.
