Study On The Image Of Aliens In Hollywood Science-fiction Movies

The science fiction film has crystallized the film competitive climate since the early 1960s. Finally, the blockbuster wins and making illusion becomes the mainstream of commercial film. The science fiction film becomes the hot favorite and undertakes the heavy responsibility of rescuing the Hollywood market. Besides, it develops and derives constantly in recent 40 years, and it still occupies half of the screen now. As the beginning of the science fiction film, the Star Wars also starts the journey of the alien to the screen.In this thesis, it researches the alien image in new Hollywood science fiction film and respectively describes the alien image entering the new Hollywood period from four chapters and three dimensions. In the first chapter, it determines the research object and presents the development and evolution. The first section is the definition of the science fiction film and the presentation of such type of historical evolution. The second section is the presentation of the historical development of the science fiction film about the alien. In the second chapter, it uses the three factors widely recognized by film, namely formulated plot, conventionalized character and graphic visual image and classifies the subtypes of the science fiction film as follows:space type science fiction film, society type science fiction film, disaster type science fiction film and terror type science fiction film. Then, it respectively summarizes and describes the alien image of each subtype of film. In the third chapter, it divides the alien image in the screen into two types:human shape and worm shape based on the characteristics of the fictitious alien on the screen and then researches them. In the fourth chapter, it describes the hierarchy concept behind the alien image from the angle of the aesthetics.
