The policy of filial piety was widely promoted by successive Chinese feudal governments. It was so common to advocate the filial piety through genealogy material in Ming Dynasty that they were complementary and reinforcing:one side, the genealogy material genealogy became government’s effective indoctrination tool to publicize traditional ethics. Consequently, it expressed positive effect on the maintenance of feudal rule. On the other hand, thanks to the protection and support of the feudal official, the genealogy material made great achievements.Since this, the goal of stability and social order as well as social dominance was achieved by this way. Meanwhile, it provide the other channels to decipher the strengthen of family power and genealogy material prosperity in Ming Dynasty. Firstly, the paper presents some traits to decipher why the genealogy material was suitable for acting as a tool to advocate filial piety. After that, discussing the dominator、feudal official、literati and offcialdom and family’s operating practice of implementing the filial piety policy among people. Finally, appraising the result which was generated with combination of compling genealogy and the government’s filial piety policy by looking the condition of compiling genealogy、social graciousness、family system and dominant order.
