In the research process of public art, the author thinks how the public art creation shows the protection of the ancient tea horse culture in Kham region with the characteristics of local custom culture, which is the research objective. This research takes Kangting as a case to explore Kham culture with the measurements of protection and utilization, and is dedicated to clearly pointing out the culture chaos in the development of Kangting and difficulties of lacking main culture positioning. Throughout the public art, the author tries to make a little contribution to the ancient tea horse culture by showing the formation of tea-horse trade in the form of mural.A city seems to be inanimate without clear cultural characteristics. Similarly, a city will also be pale if its public art has not integrated with its urban culture. It has no value. Today, in construction of powerful nation with socialist culture, for establishing the core culture value, Kanting County Party Committee and People Government decided to reconstruct the memory of Kangting historic culture. Thus, the author created a series of murals of "The Ancient Tea Horse Culture in Kham". On the one hand, it aims to create characteristic Kangting, improves the urban culture image, and forms a living environment with urban charm. On the other hand, in the form of mural, it makes the characteristics of the ancient tea horse culture in Kham shown in the city of Kangting, as well as hand down to carry forward.Kangting has a long history of development. In the urban planning, it pays more attention to cultural stationing and layer of structure. The author makes the ancient tea horse culture integrated with the development of modern city in vision by mural creation, which positively shows the past and future image of the city.
