As we all know, computer plays an important role in the current society. With the development of science and technology, computer assisted language learning has strategic significance in the research field of foreign language learning. It is a new learning strategy. Since it is very difficult for both language learners and teachers to project the grammar study. And computer assisted language learning is essential to meet the requirement of the society and the academic achievements. In this paper, with the evidence from English 3rd person singular form, the author discusses and analyzes the effect of computer assisted language learning in English grammar learning. The author takes students who were enrolled in Open University in the spring of 2014 as the subjects, with 30 learners in experimental group and control group respectively In the experimental group, the teaching mode in computer assisted language learning is to combine computer, network and virtual reality classroom together, while the control group uses the traditional grammar teaching mode which is lectured and problem solving. Through empirical research and teaching between the experimental group and the control group, respectively using pretest and post test, interview, and the questionnaire survey these three research methods to detect the effect of computer assisted language learning in teaching grammar. According to the scores of different kinds of questions, the author carried out effective statistical analysis to detect grammar score data in the pretest and post test, the P value is less than 0.0005, with statistical significance. It confirms that computer assisted language learning is very effective for grammar teaching. In the analysis of scores in the whole tests, the P value is equal to 0.0002 in statistical analysis of the pretest and post test, and also has statistical significance. It further illustrates computer assisted language learning also plays a good role in promoting English grammar learning. According to the answers from respondents for different learning objectives in the interview, the author conducted the effective analysis, and found that most learners were strangewith English 3rd person singular form, and very interested in language learning with computer, thinking the traditional teaching bored and losing interest in grammar in learning English study. In the questionnaire, the author designed the questionnaire about the teaching effect in the classroom, after analysis, the author found that learners in the experimental group behave better than learners in the control group in the quotas of the learning interest, learning efficiency, inspire thinking, oral expression. From this we can see that computer assisted language learning play a big advantage in the implementation. At last in the conclusion, the author found although the experiment demonstrates that computer assisted language learning for adult learners grammar teaching is effective, but for different ages of the learners, and the effect of different language learning environment in computer assisted language learning, the combination between technology and the practice, and learners’ motivation, still need further research.
