This study was based on Textual Cohesion Theory and Semantic Field Theory. From the perspective of the word group, this paper discussed the temporal sequence words which were used in pairs and showed the chronological order of events, and also studied the match rules of these words. Taking both qualitative and quantitative methods and based on the corpus statistics, this study tried to establish a framework of collocation forms of temporal sequence words and made an in-depth comparative analysis with several typical collocation forms.First, this study selected common temporal sequence words which were often used in pairs from Chinese vocabulary syllabus and textbooks to constitute a temporal sequence word group. According to the position on the timeline, the words could be divided into 5 secondary groups, i.e. the starting group, the connecting group, the present group, the terminal group and the future group.Second, this study retrieved corpus and extracted the collocation forms of temporal sequence words. The collocation forms with similar meaning could constitute a collocation group. According to the frequency of the forms, a chronological framework could be established. At the same time, according to the match situation the study established "the flow of ideal time" and proposes "the three-time chain (past-present-future)" and "the order chain (starting-connection-termination)".Third, the collocation forms on "the three-time chain" showed the sequence of events by the arrangement of the certain time that the events happened, among which the most typical was "Xianzai-Xianzai". The collocation forms on "the order chain" showed the sequence of events by sequential words, among which the most typical was "Xian-X". This study then made an in-depth analysis of the two categories. The results indicated that the forms belong to "Xianzai-Xianzai" had different time boundaries and presented different time relationships, including the inclusion relation, time consistent relationship, and relationship between time point and duration of time. And two events showed different semantic relationships under different circumstances. "Xian-X" category included four collocation forms. In semantic terms, all of the forms represented the sequence of events, but "Xian-Zai" emphasized on the order of events, and "Xian-Jiezhe" emphasized on connection, while "Xian-Ranhou" in the middle. And the time intervals between events were also different. In pragmatic terms, all the four forms could be used to describe event that had happened. But when used in general events and the events that never happened, the four forms were different. In terms of sentence, all the collocation forms had a variety of syntactic forms, but "Xian-Zai" was more various, while "Xian-Houlaf was simpler.Previous studies on temporal sequence word focused on single word. This study, with a new perspective and from a macro-level, focused on the classification and collocation of temporal sequence words. A framework of collocation forms of temporal sequence words was built. The Microscopic studies under the framework were conducted. The finding of the research might give references to the class teaching and the arrangement of teaching materials.
