An Analysis On The "Rumours" Of Lu Xun’s Novels

Rumors as a special type of sound, had been the focus of Lu Xun’s review. Rumors had been involved in Lu Xun’s novel creation as narrative elements. Therefore, discourse on rumors should occupy an important position in Lu Xun’s thought and literature.Most of existing research works of Lu Xun emphasis on rumors’ immediacy influence on Lu Xun’s life process. However, this does not deeply reflect the effects of rumors in Lu Xun’s life meaning. The topic of this article is to discuss "rumors" in Lu Xun’s novels, thinking of the relationship between rumors and Lu Xun’s novel creation. In the first chapter, I will analyze how rumors became the psychological mechanism of Lu Xun’s novel creation through close reading of "Nostalgia". The rumor trauma during adolescence became the inner motive power of his own literature practice after contacting with the artistic expression of rumors and lies in the process of translation. At the same time, the meaning of rumors also obtained the sublimation in the process of writing practice. Rumors, as the structural elements which have enriched connotation of reality, became a prototype structure of artistic expression. The second chapter will combine rumors with the national character criticism. I will set off from the national state of voice to discuss Lu Xun’s thinking of national character and his expectation. In the third chapter I will analyze the aesthetic character of "The Old Tales Retold"from the perspective of the "rumors" as the narrative elements. "Rumors" narrative, combining with "unofficial historical" thinking mode, created the heterology of "The Old Tales Retold".
