Canadian Literature is the most important part of World Literature. Canadian Literature also progresses in the history of Canada as a multicultural and immigrant country. In China, the flourishing study on Canadian literature translation shows the importance of Canadian Literature. Margaret Atwood is a novelist, poet, and literary critic with intensive feminist consciousness. Her versatile creation made her the spokesperson of Canada Literary World.The source text includes two short stories, Lives of the Poets and Dancing Girls, selected from a collection of short stories by Margaret Atwood. The two short stories have much common in theme and writing style, telling a story of a heroine respectively. Then after a thorough reading and understanding of the two stories, the translator starts to put it into Chinese on the basis of a fully clarification of the structure and the development of the two stories. In the end after several times’ translating and retranslating on the basis of the original text’s characteristics, the translator tries to produce a Chinese version acceptable to the Chinese readers and representative of the original writer’s inner world.The translation report puts forward solutions to the problems in the process of translating the two stories. The strategies applied in terms of semantics includes Semantic Extension, Semantic Paraphrasing, Semantic Variation, and the methods applied in terms of syntactic includes Following the Original Syntactic Order, Turning Phrases into Clauses, Reinventing Sentence, Reframing Discourses, Comprehensive Translation. Through this translation practice, translator has gained an original and new understanding on Canadian Literature, novel translation and Margaret Atwood. The writer of this translation report hopefully expects those personal experiences can serves as something useful to those who are keen on Canadian Literature and Literature translation.
