Qiang guo meng in Late Ch’ing novels refer to dream New China has obtained prosperity and happiness in novels written by patriotic politicians, thinkers and novelists, Since the Opium War in 1840 to 1911 Xin Hai revolution. Qiang guo meng writing were expressed by some utopian novels, allegory fictions and realistic novels.We mainly discussed the general visage, background, literature origin and theme in this thesis. In chapter 1, firstly, we found 36 related novels with qiang guo meng writing, and patriotic novelists made New China’s imagination on politic system,people quality, education, science, city construction and the world dream in these novels. Secondly, the thought trends of people wanted to change the difficult reality,the leading of novel revolution and the prosperity of modern literature periodicals in late Qing consisted of the background of qiang guo meng writing. On the origins of literature, related Utopian novels were mainly affected by review, Utopia and other European and American Classical Utopian novels. And related allegory fictions were mainly affected by the local fable novels.From chapter 2 to chapter 4, we discussed on the above theme characters detailedly. In chapter 2, we found the novelists putted forward three political reform plans in late qing dynasty, Constitutional monarchy, democratic republic system, and Confucian Utopia. In chapter 3, we explored the dreams of people quality and educational system in Late Ch’ing novels. The novelists imagined “Xinmin” should have modern morality, spirits and intelligence. On education imagination, Liang Qichao, Lu Shie and some others looked forward to the development of elementary education and higher education in New China. In chapter 4, we discussed on Science dream, city dream, industry dream and world dream and so on in “Chinese dream”writing. Firstly, New China was imagined to be the world leading scientific country.Daily technology and military technology realized modernization. Secondly, novelistsimagined on new Shanghai’s prosperity and harmony. Lastly but not leastly, the novelists had two oppose vision in world dream, New China would fight For world hegemony, or promote world peace. In conclusion, we discussed the success and shortcoming of qiang guo meng writing.
