From 18,19 century, watercolor painting has been mature in England, have 300 years history yet. it was also more than 100 years in China. The watercolor painting is fresh and transparent and also has the elegance mettle. Just as its name implies, watercolor painting is the type of art which research “water”, is takes “water” as medium, “color” as carrier, lean water add color, being the unique language. “water” is invisible, have the feature of movability, add the lively and transparent color, being moisten and fluency feel. The amount of usage of the water can make the water mark and texture, these are the key differences of the other painting types. Therefore, how to use water, how to show the unique art impression of watercolor, being a question which attract the artists pursue. However, for any type of painting, the theme of the painting is also an important point. For a excellent painting, technique and theme are the same important. So the artist not only should select good theme, but also use the right materials and painting language. This paper will start from watercolor painting, explore the watercolor painting unique impression, analyze and comparison of the different theme and painting method.
