A Report On The Translation Of The Power Of Forgetting

At present as science and technology grows rapidly and the society progresses unceasingly, the speed of people’s life and work increases. This busy world forces us to deal with large amounts of information and lots of tasks. However, fortunately, we have a good method to confront this dilemma. This method can help us cut up the clutter in our mind and solve problems for us in order to save time and enjoy the beautiful life and focus our attention. It can also clear up the problems within the time that is necessary. The solution is to know a kind of phenomenon--forgetting. Certainly, when we learn to forget, we have the ability to finish daily work more quickly and flexibly. From this we can see that using our brains efficiently and intelligently is vital.This report is based on the book--The Power of Forgetting translated by me. It introduces, analyses and concludes the the process and the result of this project, including the introduction, main body and conclusion. The main idea is following:The first part is the introduction. It mainly introduces the content of this book and the authors as well as the situation of this study and the problems appearing and the solution to these problems. It describes the application value and the theory significance of it in the scientific and technological field and social progress.The second part is the main body, including three parts:The first chapter introduces the authors--Mike Byster and Kristin Loberg and their work--The Power of Forgetting. Then, it makes a description of this translation project.The second chapter introduces the translation process, including the preparation for translation, translation process and the control of translation quality. In the first part--the preparation for translation, it has the arrangement from translation, translation tools and references and translation principles.The third chapter is case analysis, the core of this report. It has two parts. The first part introduces the translation of medical terms, including literal translation, full translation and annotation; The second part is the translation of idioms, including literal translation, liberal translation and borrowing translation.The last part is conclusion, concluding the discussion and stressing the main idea of this article. In the conclusion, the translator makes a brief summary about the translation strategies and skills mentioned and convey the feeling the author got in this process.
