Analysis Of “Legend”Narrative In Mai Jia’s Novel

Mai Jia is a famous contemporary writer in China and his work 《Ambush》 won the 7th Mao Dun literature award. Since the theme of Mai Jia’s novel focus on “spy novel”, many scholars classify them as the side of light literature. However, with the aid of adaptation of media works in the novel, “spy narrative” in Mai Jia’s novel arouses a valuable acceptance tendency under the context of mass culture spreading.Thus, it demonstrates that its aesthetic value is far more than the category of common spy novels. This thesis intends to adopt the theory of narratology, rhetoric, literary psychology and culture spreading with the method of historical esthetic. Meanwhile,it starts with Mai Jia’s personal experience and thoughts precipitation and seeks the special connotation of “legend narrative” from aspects of theme, figure shape and artistic expression. On the basis of it, the thesis extends to seeks the embodied positive significance of “Mai Jia hot”.This thesis has three chapters. The first chapter states “spy legend” of Mai Jia’s novel from the reasons and special dealing ways in the theme of Mai Jia’s spy novels.Military experience and literature qualification are the source of Mai Jia’s “hero bond” while furtive spy historical imagination and life poetic are made up of initial representation of legend narrative in Mai Jia’s novel. Chapter two tells the “hero legend” in Mai Jia’s novel. Three characters are chosen to be compared in the books and deeply analyze the “imperfect” hero characters. Mai Jia follows the standard of traditional morality under the guidance of tragic heroic conception genius hero shows the surprising intelligence and despised badness. Thus, heroes who are extremely noble and humble sing the sad melody for the life. Chapter three tells the“meta-fiction legend” in Mai Jia’s novel. Multiply narrative ways,interlaced image system construction and sterescopic image imitation makes the unification between reality and imagination in the Mai Jia’s spy narrative and meanwhile enhances its aesthetic effect of “legend”. The “spy legend” narrative in Mai Jia’s novel successfully surpasses the instinct bound between serious literature and common literature, achieves the sense of coexistence between noble and common literature in the aspect of aesthetic with the aid of positive interactive with media medium and creates “mysterious” spread effect. Therefore, Mai Jia provides a probability reference for the growth and development of “pure literature” under the context of contemporary common culture spread and meanwhile his works successfully achieve its literary value.
