In traditional Chinese family structure, the relationship between Daughter-in-laws and Mother-in-laws are both important and sensitive in large family relationships. This article selects a few famous Saga Novels of which they portray these relationships, titled “Xingshi Yinyuan Zhuan”, “Yesou Puyan”, “Qilu Deng”, “Honglou Meng”, “Linlan Xiang”. These five typical saga novels, mainly speaking family perspectives, to analyze and examine the In-law relationships.The Text is divided into four parts :Chapter One : Chinese feudal society Marriage Patterns.This chapter points out the In-Law Relationships which have always been one of the major part in the traditional family systems in ancient China and is the most complex and most sensitivie among relationships. It was a major factor is fostering family harmony. In the history of literature related to In-laws, relationships were more jarring. The ethnic traditions and as a result of great power on the Mother-in Law, Literature Portray a ’wicked Mother in Law’ image, although Later works, there appeared some "evil daughter" characters as well.Chapter Two : The In-Law Relationship among Different Family Classes in Society.In general, Families in Ancient Society could be divided into Three areas. The Aristocrats, Intelligentia, and the General Civilians. The same ethnical and moral autonomy significantly differ in different Social Straa. Although on the surface of a noble family seems fine, there existed severe complications and contradictions among the In-laws. The In-law relationships within the Intelligent Family Groups were relatively simple, and both sides of the In-laws have considerable knowledge and personal accomplishments and self secure. There existed deep rooted ideologies among their women. As long as both sides remained friendly, there existed possibility of achieving A very peaceful Mother-Daughter-filial in Law relationship. In the General Civilian families, there existed more traits and roots of folk and local characteristics.Chapter Three : Family Stories of Ming dynasty and the basic model In-law relationships.Family Stories of Ming dynasty and Qing dynsty in-law relationships specially women can be divided into three types, namely : Compassionate woman filial daughter type, evil mother in law filial daughter- type and evil Daughter in Law Type. Compassionate mother filial daughter- type with ideals, is one of the most desirable and harmonious in-law relationship. The Evil mother in law filial daughter- type were the most common, which was the inevitable product of the feudal society produced rituals. Evil daughter in law- type woman were relatively rare, due to the fact that it contradicted traditional values of those time and were often despised by the people.Chapter 4: The reason for the novel in-law contradiction.it was due to Unequal system of family ethics, social thought existing at that time, the writer’s personal qualities and creative thoughts.This brought about a certain psychological impact on family in-law relationship in the Ming dynasty and Qing dynasty novels.
