The studies of facial recognition in major depression are aim to find the difference of the trait of common facial recognition between people depressed and normal. The existing researches find that there is impairment of cognitive function in depressed people. The depressed people are more sensitive to negative face, and inclined to label the happy and neural face to negative. However the study of depressive tendency which highly related to the depression is focus on the factor associated with forming mechanism instead of cognitive traits. Meanwhile, the discrimination between depression and depressive tendency is all according to the judgment of doctors, which is lack of objective index.Micro-expression occurs when people try to hide their true feelings consciously and unconsciously, which last only 1/25 to 1/5s. Thus recognition of micro-expression needs high sensitivity. According to that, there will be more trait of micro-expression recognition when depression and depressive tendency are studied. Maybe the more subjective index of discrimination between depression and depressive tendency will be found. For these reasons, we use Ecological Micro-expression Paradigm: adding different common face before and after each micro-expression in order to make the recognition more similar to the real life.Research 1 was aiming to investigate the difference of micro-expression recognition in speed and accuracy between depressive tendency and normal people, and used happy, sad, natural and fear faces from face dataset as common face and micro-expression. There were 32 depressive tendency people and 32 normal people participated. The mission is to recognize the micro-expression. While, Research 2 was include 30 depressed people and 30 normal people, the task was as same as Research 1.The result found that:Firstly, there was a happy micro-expression advantage: the speed and accuracy was higher than the other micro-expression for all the participants and in all facial contexts.Secondly, in the sad facial context, the depressed patients labeled more happy and neutral micro-expressions as sad micro-expression than normal people, which maenad to negative bias. While the normal labeled more neutral micro-expressions as happy micro-expressions, which maenad to positive bias. Finally, in the different facial context, there was no difference of speed and accuracy of micro-expressive recognition between depressive tendency people and normal people. But there was there was significant difference of speed and accuracy of micro-expressive recognition between depressed people and normal people. The different performance between depression and depressive tendency when comparing with normal people separately, which imply us that the Ecological Micro-expression Paradigm could be the subjective index to discrimination between depression and depressive tendency.
