This thesis mainly introduces a total of 11 of his short novels from the first one "Hit" to the "Tokyo Bakery Magic Set" from four parts, not including "Men without women are" which is 2014 newly published. The first chapter introduces the overview of Haruki Murakami’s literary creation and some general domestic researches. The reason why Haruki Murakami’s work is popular and his work’s position are analysed through the survey of his own life experience, hobbies and the style of his work. The second chapter focuses on several themes to demonstrate universal social phenomena which caused people to think about the existing problems.The third chapter analyzes several typical images in his short novels.The analysis of these figures reveales the situation of people’s life and the limit to their mental spirit. At the same time, this chapter also shows the thought about society as well as life in metaphysics pattern. The focus of the fourth chapter is characteristics of his short novels. Haruki Murakami has a deep understanding of oriental culture as well as western culture, so in his work he integrated western cultural elements into oriental culture. Readers will have a good understanding of his work through the analysis of his writing technique. knowledge of literature.
