Since ancient time, the development of human material civilization and spiritual civilization are not in a synchronized state with each other to promote and influence, in order to promote the progress of whole society. Literature, as part of spiritual civilization and as the soft power of social development plays a key role. A writer, as a creator of a literary work, writers’ spiritual exploration has significance of literature and society. Some of the factors of literature and modern civilized society always more or less have conflicts with each other, for example, between writers and politics, literature and society there is the impact of the relationship. Writers’ thoughts go ahead the social development, or fall behind the progress of social civilization, and this is a long topic. Writers put themselves in different situations because of their own choice. In retrospect, it was found that it was valuable to make the spiritual pursuit and moral exploration at that time. There are two such people in the history of literature, and they are there where people’s puzzled and controversial so much, but they are rare literary prides, both erudite, articulate their views with the language and literature, also to gain a foothold in the environment to preserve their own morality, make personal and moral self-improvement, for their intellectual development to stack stone roads, and to find their own way of the morality. This realm is commendable, but it is also very difficult.Gide, when he was awarded a Nobel supreme literary award, but at the same time let their works to place themselves on the cusp, attracted numerous condemnation and people did not understand the French writer, and all his works were banned by Vatican, which is great enough to see the devastating work, while these did not stop him to gave up his own morality pursuit. Gide exhausted his life energy going forward in the spirit of moral contradiction adversity, for the freedom in spiritual pursuit. Mandelstam, a poet born in 1891, died young in Russia before World War II, and he could just be one of many "vindicated" poets. Half a century after Mandelstam died, his works have been known in the world, which is also an honor for the readers!Gide and Mandelstam on personality development can be caused by some kind of resonance, I think. First Jointly by the creation enlightenment of the French symbolism of the impact, as well as religious influence of the two writers in the family, to the their own later development make them generate a new understanding of their own, and began to rebel them on their old works, and thus produce questions and resistance to their own political system. These factors make them in different institutional walking on the same road. This article will let Gide and Mandelstam to start from accept their own education and the original negative values to follow their hearts, improve personal morality, spiritual exploration. I conduct a comparative study of the performance of moral self-improvement, including the highest moral principles in individuals- faith, and views that they represented on the Soviet socialist morality. The second part we understand the discovery process in-depth of the two writers’ ‘moral self-improvement,and changes that spiritual exploration is reflected in the literature, changes from symbolism to realism, as well as their understanding of religious morality, which are moral writer sound important aspects. In the third part, through the above comparison study,I point out what similar reasons is in the spiritual road to discovery of Gide and Mandelstam, including the objective analysis of family background and the influence of the social and cultural aspects of the environment, of course, which cannot do without their conscious and introspection on their moral exploration roads.
