The Research Of College Students’ Social Morality Status And Improvement

Social morality consists by basic moral requirements that people should abide by. As the most basic moral requirements, social morality is critical in any society and age. During the new period of Chinese construction of socialist modernization, because of the development of the economy, the expansion of the public life domain and the increasing frequency of interpersonal communication, the function of the social morality become more prominent. It has incarnated individual’s moral cultivation and civilization degree. Social ethics and scientific literacy of college students with high knowledge reserves and moral cultivation will directly relate to the realization of the spiritual civilization appearance and modernization target of China in this century. So people have higher expectation of the college student’s moral quality.Recently, some negative factors such as lacking of self-discipline of college students, the effect of the ethics system dominated by private, the guidance of negative social public opinion, the lack of social morality education in school and the concept deviation of family education result in lacking of public moral-awareness, the indifferent emotion of public moral, the contradictions between public moral knowledge and behavior, etc. The status of college students’ public morality is not optimistic and the whole moral level is far from satisfaction. It is extremely urgent to change the social morality situation and improve the college students’ social morality status.There are many ways to solve the problem above mentioned, for instance, enhance the consciousness of colleges students’ social morality, transform the social ethic system, reform social morality operate system, improve the guiding function of family on social morality, and strengthen the moral education in university to develop college students’ social moral consciousness. As a social consciousness, it is hard to improve the social morality in one day, therefore, the consistent endeavor of social sectors is required.
