Research On Application Of Dramatic Elements In The Documentary

Documentary has a special status and influence in the film and television art. It has the value pursuit on revealing the truth, recording the reality and history. At the same time, documentary also carries the historical mission of clarifying the choise, explaining the history and advancing human understanding. Documentary was born in the west, and later take root in China. It experienced the process from the elite culture to the mass culture. Most of the previous documentary rarely considered the audience. It is more like a valuable literature history of historical image. Audience were very difficult to get entertainment from the experience of documentary. So it is very difficult to find the favor of popular culture. In order to change the current situation, the Western documentary creators explored the dramatic elements into a documentary creation, documentary could be enhanced, so it is gradually accepted by the public. However, with the industry for application, dramatic elements in the documentary has been controversial. Some people thought dramatic was the enemy of the documentary that dramatically would reduce the authenticity, others had a positive and optimistic attitude. They thought the documentary should be comprehensive entertainment and in the market. The purpose of this study, is based on such a premise, conducting the research to the application of the dramatic elements in the documentary. In order to giving the supporting of creative process application dramatic factors in the future by studying the Chinese and foreign documentaries in application of dramatic elementsThis paper is based on the application of the documentary and dramatic factors. The author believes that the elements of drama itself has no interest, it is neutral things. Documentary can use dramatic factors enhance the ornamental and artistic, which can make it more in line with the trend of the times and people’s aesthetic taste and better performance in real service.This paper mainly having the following methods:(1) Theoretical research. Through the research on the theory of the creation of Chinese and foreign documentaries, I will clarify basic theories and viewpoints of different country, different type of documentary creation, select and research direction of contents and chapter which related to the paper, and the write the theoretical basis.(2) Observing. I will consciously observe, experience, analysis of the relevant documentary.(3)Literature analysis. I will consult the documentary literature home and abroad. Then with the help of various database on the Internet, i will give the evidence and arguments by analyzing the television documentary and dramatic factors,(4) Comparative studying. I will comprise the creation technique of television documentary of home and abroad, and analyze the difference between their nature, forms and expressive force. I will find the universal character and way of promoting the entertainment effect of the documentary.(5) Case studying. I will select the representative and strong reference of the documentary, and do the case analyzing to find out the dramatic factors influence on the film, and how to get the balance between documentary and entertainment.The structure of this article is divided into four parts, the first chapter begins with an analysis of the elements of drama in the documentary film creation, and the current situation of Chinese and foreign documentaries entertainment development. The second chapter introduces the definition and application of dramatic elements in the documentary."Dramatic factors" as the research discussion, the author gives a clear definition. This paper will use the "dramatic factor" is defined as: the elements of drama conflict and plot. I will use the previous documentary works as a sample to tease out the type of dramatic elements in the documentary. I will also combine specific documentary sample, and dramatic factors in the documentary application state and carry on the discussion and the analysis.The third chapter analyzes the current application of dramatic elements in the documentary problems and experience. I will give the my analysis and response on the questioning authenticity of dramatic documentary. In the view of the industry for the questioned the authenticity of the voice, the author gives his analysis and response. I will give a new interpretation on the true conception. I believe that absolute truth doesn’t exist. Human can only close to the real infinitely, but can not reach the absolute truth. As the language art of the TV documentary, it is nothing more than creators with his willingness to expression of the lens language art. The documentary itself does not have absolute truth. In order to make the documentary more convenient for the public to accept, it is all right to add the dramatic elements in the creation of documentary. At the same time, we can know that there is a bottom line in the creation of the documentary application. To master the application of documentary drama series of factors and the rationality of the "degree" of the problem. Dramatic is documentary services and do not consider documentary dramatic factors in the application for the documentary is a violation and destruction.In the fourth chapter, I will analysis and research before and propose to build Chinese documentary style and international influence. We can strengthen cultural exchanges by strengthening the exchange of experience and cooperation projects. There is only one way to balance the authenticity and dramatic of documentary.In the theme selecting,we can try to highlight the Chinese characteristics, and excavate the essence of Chinese culture which has the content and form of expression of Chinese characteristics. In this way, we can truly improve the discipline of our country.The main conclusions are as follows. Dramatic elements applied to the documentary film creation, enhance the documentary artistic and ornamental, and make it more in line with the trend and people’s aesthetic taste. Also, it is worth to encourage and develop that dramatic factors makes a contribution to exhibit reality.The theoretical innovation of this article is to define the dramatic elements in documentary and to divide it into three types, namely the choice of subject matter, visual performance, sound system, and narrative system. Furthermore, The application of dramatic elements dispersely in the documentary was classified and now becomes a theory. There is a certain theoretical value to direct the creation and practice.
