The creations of Giinter Wilhelm Grass(1927-2015) are political and satirical.Die Blechtrommel、Katz und Maus、Hundejahre are his representative creations、Die Blechtrommel is the first work of Danzig trilogy.Osear, the leading character, was born with a deep sense of world-weary,when he was young he couldn’t confirm who was his natural father, when he grew up he couldn’t confirm his natural father identity to his natural son.After a series of supreme demon actions, he got a deeper sense of world-weary and was confused about the direction of the remainder of his life.This essay focuses on the inborn sense of word-weary of Oscar and his identity confusion from the perspective of ethical literary criticism, analyzing the confused ethical identity and ethical dilemma of Oscar, probing into the intentions behind his supreme actions, carding the ethical problems continued in Danzig trilogy, showing the ethical concern of Grass.This essay is divided into three parts:the first part mainly analyses the group identity confusion in Danzig and the identity confusion of Oscar;the second part probes into the anxious of self-recognize after the fails in establishment of ethical identity, discussing about the contradictions of ego and the other after the change of ethical identity, analyzing the fierce collisions of ego and the other under ethical confusion, combing the other two works of Danzig trilogy, discussing the ethical identity problems continued in this series of creations, analyzing the ethical meaning and moral inspiration contained in them.Overall, the conclusions of this essay are below:By creating the image of Oscar, Grass wants to bring insight to the identity confusion of perplexed people under the historical background of brutal war and their wrong ethical choices made after the confusion and the entangled confused-distorted-confused predicament that they have to face after making those choices.By revealing the crimes of Nazi, Grass wants to let the common people self-examine the reason why war outbreaks from their own respect.That brutal and ashamed history has passed but can’t be forgot, only by engraving the historical lessons in mind and sustained self-examination and mind-purity, the civilization of human can harmonically survive together in the future.
