Enter the university, whether in life or in study, students are faced with many new challenges. The university stage is a key period in the development of students’self development influenced by many factors, and the development of self psychology also has a great influence to the students.1977, Bandura put forward general self-efficacy and the concept refers to the individual in the face of the new environment or a new task expect that whether he or she can complete the task.This article detailed introduces the domestic and foreign related research about self and self-efficacy, through empirical study, to explore self growth group guidance for general self-efficacy of college freshmen’s intervention effect.This study takes the form of group counseling for students to all aspects of the self. And we want to discuss the self-growth groups impact on self-efficacy of college freshmen. Research design adopts pre-and-post test on the experimental group and steerable group. The subjects are selected from the Hubei university freshmen’s 46 students. They are randomly divided into experimental group and control group. The experimental group received group guidance eight times, and the theme is self growth. Control group does not accept group guidance. Before the group counseling, using the "general self-efficacy scale", self-acceptance questionnaire" and "anxiety self-assessment questionnaire" to a pretest, so that we can know the participants’general self-efficacy level, degree of self-acceptance and the level of anxiety. After the group counseling, we use the same questionnaire to test again.Data analysis uses SPSS 17.0. Through the analysis, results show that the level of two groups of the general self-efficacy, self-acceptance and anxiety had no significant difference before group counseling. After the group counseling, the score of two groups change a lot. It shows that the level of the experimental group and control group on general self-efficacy and self-acceptance have significant differences, the general self-efficacy of the experimental group level and the level of self-acceptance is higher than that of control group. And the anxiety level score had no significant difference.The data analysis shows that the group counseling can significantly improve the level of members of the general self-efficacy, and effectively improve the level of the members’ self-acceptance and reduce the anxiety level.
