Since the late20th century, popular culture has become an indispensable culture phenomenon as the huge effect on the daily lives of the public. When street dance came out as the bridge of the AURO of popular culture, it gradually became the model of global transmission of popular culture. The emergence of street dance is not just a coincidence, but a necessity created by the youths’appeal of anti-capitalism as well as their eager for freedom during the developing trends of times.With the violent promotion of mass media, street dance easily affects the public though its unique charm of expression. What’s more, it turns to be a popular fashion by its characteristic and profound connotation. As a result, street dance culture has ascertained its global aggregation force of culture within decades. When spreading to China, street dance culture went through a transformation from sports to real dance era. Due to the strength of Chinese youth, street dance ultimately developed into a popular fashion of popular culture in China along with the turn of the mainstream ideology, in which case, it inevitably participant into the capital operation which leading to the appearance of the new alienation by the permeation of commercialization and technology.The problem that how to maintain relative independentability of street dance while facing the tempting mass consumption society is about to be answered not only by itself but also by other forms of popular culture. This essay aims to make analysis about the progress of street dance culture which how it finally become a popular form of popular culture as well as a fashion in china, in the meantime, we will discuss the possibility of new alienation and the liberty of the public that may be influenced by street dance culture. In which way, we could probe into the problems and even future about street dance culture in contemporary China.The introductory theory is a main introduction that includes some essential parts as followed:Firstly, discuss the unique quality about street dance as a form of popular culture in its global dissemination.
