With the increase of international communications under the globalization background, the urgent demand for multi-lingual talents, especially competent translators, is growing with higher requirements. The reform and development of translation curriculum aims to cultivate a new type of qualified translation talents consistent with the requirement of the times, whose effective way is to carry out translation teaching. Translation textbooks serve as the main teaching reference material for teachers to teach in classroom as well as the important sources for learners to acquire translation knowledge. Because the variety and quality of the existing translation textbooks can not meet all the actual needs of learners, and the traditional translation textbooks have failed to meet the training needs of qualified translators in the new times, the study of the compilation of translation textbooks has occupied an important part in the reform and development of translation curriculum. Since a certain theory should be followed during the compilation of a translation textbook, it is particularly important to choose appropriate theories to guide the process of compilation. From the perspective of Constructivism, the thesis tries to explore the compilation of translation textbooks based on the constructivist views on knowledge, learning and teaching.From the constructivist perspective, this thesis analyses, classifies and summarizes the research results of related books and articles through literature research method in order to find the breakthrough point and research idea. The materials for the compilation of translation textbooks at home and abroad have been collected for the comparative research for the sake of summing up the experience beneficial to the compilation of translation textbooks. It is of positive theoretical and practical significance for the reform and development of translation curriculum to do research into the compilation of translation textbooks, which contains many aspects such as objective setting, content organization and evaluation, etc. from a macro view.Chapter one is a brief introduction of the research background, research questions, the research methodology and the research significance of the study. Chapter Two is a literature review which consists of three parts:the brief introduction of basic concept of translation textbooks, the review of research results of translation textbooks at home and abroad and the new research direction and idea based on previous research achievements. The theoretical framework is offered in chapter three. The constructivist views on knowledge, learning and teaching are provided as the guidance for the compilation of translation textbooks. Chapter four expounds the basic principles of compiling translation textbooks and explores the compilation of translation textbooks based on the constructivist theories, holding the views that the objective setting of constructivist translation textbooks should be learner-oriented, that the content organization should focus on practice, which is a key point for meaning construction and that the task design should stress collaboration, which plays an important role in the process of meaning construction. Chapter five gives research conclusions and points out the research limitations and future researches.
