Different from the QIQAO custom of other originals in our country, thebegging-for-deftness festival in Xi He is a traditional festival which isonly based on the weaver girl. Its main participants are a large number ofunmarried girls. No matter from the time span, the number of participants, and thecoverage area or from ritual performances and activities, thebegging-for-deftness festival in Xi He must be the only and uniquefestival around our country. It’s known as "the first" in China since it isthe only festival merely for girls. The current studies on it are about itsorigin, characteristics, functions, cultural connotation and the socialsignificance to the archaeology. And there are even some researchers whostudied it by conducting a field investigation from macroscopic point ofview. In contrast, they all lack embedded studies on the specific villageand the major participants. This essay will analyze the Inheritance andchange mechanism of the festival on the basis of field investigationcombined with the problem of generation. On the one hand, people canlearn about the present changes of the festival; on the other hand, theywill realize that the change mechanism is not only affected by the timesbut also subjective initiatives of the major groups who celebrate thebegging-for-deftness festival. Taking Jiang Yao village as an example, Iwill show that how the inheritance of tradition and local people interactand contact with each other. Under the interactions, people should havereasonable academic support to protect and develop this festival in thefuture. The essay consists of five parts:The first part introduces the origin and significance of the topic,summarize-s the correlated research, the concept definition, the researchmethods and introductions of Jiang Yao village. The second part describes its position and role in local people’s dailylife on the basis of the literature and the field survey. The third part talks about the evolution of the begging-for-deftnessfestival in the new century by the recent field investigations.Throughsome vivid examples,we can see that it is now affected by two forceswhich celebrate in different manners. The fourth part shows the festival is not only influenced by theexternal background but also its intergenerational interaction betweenparticipants from the sociological perspective.Through some specific examples of field investigation, I will showthe effect of this interaction on it.The fifth part is the conclusion. Since it is a sign of the localrepresentative culture, people should protect this festival as the way itwas. Meanwhile, its main inheritors should improve their culturalconsciousness to make the festival a sustainable development.
