Master Qisong, who has important status of Yunmen School in the Song Dynasty, dedicates his life to writing and the protection of Buddhism. He has ever written to the emperor of the Song Dynasty, and his works was permitted to be saved. Although as a zen monk, he is proficient in the Confucian classics. Facing the "wave of Buddhism" set off by the Confucians, he expresses his thought of the integration of Confucianism and Buddhism in The interpretations of Moderation. His system theory and manner is unique, while he doesn’t go against the Confucian spirit and the Buddhist thought. At the same time, he lays a foundation to the study of Moderation in the Northern Song Dynasty. |
