Development Of Scale Of Young Athletes’ Positive Character

So far, the researches of positive character have had more fruitfulresults, but the research samples have a significant tendency for adults.There is seldom study on positive character in the field of competitive sports.Linley also question the impact of differences in upbringing on positivecharacter model. The study is to construct a theoretical model of adolescentathletes positive character adapted to measure and cultivate adolescentathletes positive character.This study uses qualitative research methods and literature analysisdetermine the structure of positive character for adolescent athletes. Theprimary questionnaire contained two classes dimensions, which includefive dimensions in the first class and twelve dimensions in the second classwas carried out in Beijing, and371questionnaires were collected. Basedon analysis,52items were retained. The Cronbach α was0.853. By the EFA,one more factor was found and one item was increased these factors accountedfor48.56%of the total variance. The formal questionnaire was carried outin Beijing, and575questionnaires were collected. The result of CFA showedthe model came up to test standard. Following results are obtained:First，In the model of positive character for adolescent athletes, thereare two classes dimensions, which include five dimensions in the first classand twelve dimensions in the second class. The dimensions in the first classare willpower, wisdom, humanity, temperance and transcendence and thedimensions in the second class are bravery, persistence, behavioral control,emotional stability love of learning, leadership, love, gratitude, teamwork,modesty, earnest, goal and confidence. Bravery, persistence, behavioralcontrol, emotional stability belong to willpower, love of learning,leadership belong to wisdom, love, gratitude, teamwork belong to humanity,modesty and earnest belong to temperance, goal and confidence belong totranscendence.Second, the questionnaire has good internal consistency reliability andgood fit of theoretical structure. The reliability and construct validity canbe accepted.
