A Research On The Relationship Among Impression Management,Pefectionism And Interpersonal Harmony Of College Students

Impression management exist throughout all aspects of life,and it has always been an important research variable in social psychology.Students may deliberately delay operations in order to avoid the negative impression of school failure,have no review before exam,characterize the anxiety and the influence of the traumatic event,spend all night playing games on the eve of exams and so on.the motivation behind these behaviors largely have connection with impression management.Therefore,college students’ impression management is worth paying more attention by the researchers.In social psychologists’view, impression management is not only inevitable.but also is cultural and social phenomenon which is expected.It is the core concerns of social cognition, and has natural connection between self-monitoring and social skills. A low level of impression management or self-monitoring level is considered to hinder the development of college students’ social skills to some extent.College students have always been regarded as a group whose social expectations and personal expectations are higher,often like to pursue something perfect which is so-called perfectionism.Perfectionism is a kind of personality traits which is closely linked with the concept of self,it is often viewed as one of the diagnostic criteria of abnormal psychology.According to the bias of perfectionism,it can be divided into health perfectionism and unhealthy perfectionism and both are related to interpersonal style.in addition,unhealthy perfectionism affects the principles and characteristics of college students’ interpersonal communication.This study uses college students as the object of study, investigate the impression management of college students in order to enrich impression management theory and analyze the relationship between college students’ impression management,perfectionism and interpersonal harmony at the same time.I want to make a system research on a new perspective,offers a new way of thinking about improving college students’ social skills.This study uses questionnaires to investigate the relationship of the three variables.They are self-monitoring scale of Snyder,Frost multidimensional perfectionism scale and Zheng Richang "college students’ comprehensive diagnostic scale of interpersonal connection".They all have good reliability and validity.The participants of the empirical part of the questionnaire survey are478college students from three universities in wuhan city(hubei university, Hubei University Of Education and Wuhan University of Technology).
