There is an upsurge for learning Chinese around the world with China’s coming to the world stage gradually, which makes the requirement for good Chinese teachers become more urgent. In order to solve the problem, the project of volunteers as international Chinese teacher arises at the right moment in2004and there are more and more volunteers who go abroad and teach all over the world. The intercultural adaptation of volunteers is directly related to whether they can finish the work well, so it deserves to be concerned and researched. By2014, there are three Confucius institutes in Hungary that is located in central Europe and they not only have stable student quantity, but also the scale of education in the tendency of continuing to expand and its Chinese promotion mode also has certain representative significance in whole Europe. In August of this year, there were38volunteers selected by China National Office for Teaching Chinese as a foreign Language(NOCFL)to teach in Hungary and volunteers are the principal force in the cause of Chinese international promotion and it is very important for Chinese promotion in Hungary whether volunteers can adapt to the local culture well and work smoothly. The research of the paper is based on the theories of culture shock and cultural adaptation and it takes Chinese volunteer teachers to Hungary in2014as research objects to survey their intercultural adaptability in the initial acceding stage. The paper obtains the raw data of intercultural adaptability in their early acceding stage mainly by questionnaire. Questionnaire includes two parts those are personal information and intercultural adaptability and the former helps author to get volunteers’ data reflecting individual differences such as collecting gender, age and the experience overseas before acceding and the latter divides intercultural adaptability into three dimensions:social and cultural adaptation, psychological adaptation and job adaptation and adopts the five-point scale to compile questionnaire. In the analysis of the volunteers’ intercultural adaptability in their initial acceding stage, the author makes use of the software of statistical product and service solutions (SPSS) to do the research on volunteers’ adaptability in initial stage from the angles of the influence of volunteers’ individual differences on inter-social and intercultural adaptability and the relationship among various aspects in intercultural adaptation. The study found that from the view of the influence of volunteers’ individual differences on inter-social and intercultural adaptability, their intercultural adaptability is significantly influenced by age and the experience overseas before acceding and that’s to say age and the experience overseas before acceding have appreciable impact on their intercultural adaptability and adaptability of volunteers in the age of over25is obviously better than those of under25and adaptability of volunteers who have certain overseas experience volunteers significantly is evidently better than those without overseas experience. From the point of the relationship among various aspects in intercultural adaptation, adaptation degrees are ranked in order from low to high:adaptation degree of social supporting, living environment adaptation and interpersonal adaptation, working content adaptation, psychological adaptation and working interpersonal adaptation.Based on the above conclusions and combined with author’s personal experience, the paper puts forward the following suggestions:The selection of volunteers should give priority to those who are in the age of over25and have certain overseas experience. About teaching form, it can have a try on the approach of mixing grouping, teaching by small classes and exploring learning; About training content, it can combine the course of intercultural adaptation theory with the practice course, such as intercultural scene simulation; About training teachers, it can be composed by experienced mentors and former outstanding volunteers. In addition, the paper suggests that it should emphasize to strengthen the training on social supporting adaptation, focus on the training of living environment adaptation and interpersonal adaptation and working content adaptation appropriately and give attention to the training of psychological adaptation and working interpersonal adaptation.
