As China has adjusted her idea of broadening the way that people will have a better understanding of China as well as Chinese culture,more and more Chinese volunteer teachers are dispatched into different countries around the world.While volunteer teachers are trying to accomplish their tenure,whether they could successfully go through the intercultural adaptation process has become an important issue of volunteer themselves together with the Hanban officials.As the differential beginning time and development of Chinese programs in different countries,the research about the intercultural adaptation of volunteer teachers has focus on the South Asian area.According to the research method,most researchers are using the quantitative research instead of the qualitative research.As a matter of fact and the unique trait of Assistant to Teachers of Chinese of Victoria State program,this research has explored the dynamic intercultural adaptation process of volunteer teachers by using the qualitative research,including the intercultural challenges,the solutions,the developing stages and as a result we have draw a conclusion of theoretical construction.Of course,all based on the former study results as the references.We hope that our research will cover the shortage of the differential distribution of the study and at the same time by presenting the cases in the true situations we would like to illustrate the fact of the intercultural adaptation process.We hope that our theoretical contribution will provide some advices for the next explorers as well as the guidance for trainers who are going to carry out the training program.This study accept the specific methods of qualitative research as case study and narrative inquiry,in order to collecting the materials the investigator has used the way of observing,keeping diary,interviewing and objects collecting.This study chose "myself" as the study target.Based on the opinion of phenomenon interaction and from the angle of relationship network construction,I finally divided the issues into four categories,which are language,interpersonal communication,living and working.This study chose the "category" and the "meta-context" way to present the cases.As we have analyzed the materials deeply,we had constructed the theory of one of the feasible ways to accomplish the intercultural adaptation.For English,it will progress gradually especially on listening and speaking as the immersive environment and the volunteers’endeavor works.On the earlier stage of their tenure,volunteers will have a feeling of overwhelming,at a loss and has the possibility of under biggest pressure from every aspect.As time goes by,when volunteers’ original cultural values conflict with native values,volunteers are more than easy to have prejudice on native ones,they will feel struggle to figure out which is correct or whether they should insist on their own or follow the native ones.As they will come across more frustrations together with the irresistible force of the environment and the willingness to adapt to the new culture,volunteers could choose to obey the current values.We advice volunteers keep reservation attitude and make comment later on new values and steadily finish their tenure.We also advice the training program for volunteers should put more efforts on selecting the proper candidates.Secondly,we should put more emphasis on theoretical study of intercultural adaptation together with the case study.Thirdly,we should improve the candidates’ intercultural communication skills.
