A Corresponding Study Of "Shang"&"Xia" In Verb-Resultative Construction Phrase V-shang&V-xia

The contemporary Chinese language trend verbs "shang" and "xia" have an abundant and complex semantic system, which present many abstract semantic features in the progress of semantic evolution, and irregular correspondence in the practical application.This thesis takes "shang" and "xia" which express results after verbs as research objects. By investigating actual language materials, summarizes the semantic meaning of "shang" and "xia" in the Verb-Resultative construction phrase V-shang and V-xia. Basing on the semantic features and the correlations to the basic trend semantic meaning, to describe semantic category of "shang" and "xia" after verbs which express results in details, in spatial dimension and non-spatial dimension.On this basis, investigating the semantic correspondence of V-shang and V-xia, starting with semantic category, and considering the characteristics of language environment, presenting the correspondence of "shang" and "xia" of Verb-Resultative phrase fully and detailedly, summarizing the semantic correspondence and non-correspondence categories of "shang" and "xia". Then study the non-correspondence semantic meaning deeply, combining the prototype theory, the historical and cultural background, language environment and the characteristics of the words themselves, investigating how the difference of the prototypes "shang" and "xia",semantic identity of the co-occurrence verbs, historical and cultural backgrounds, and the cognitive rules effect the correspondence of "shang" and "xia" in Verb-Resultative construction phrase V-shang&V-xia.
