Research On The Verb-resultative Construction With Objects Based On Generative Lexicon Theory

The rheme-complement construction plays a very important role in the modern Chinese grammar system.It has always been an important topic for linguists to focus on research.At present,the academic research on the rheme-complement construction structure involves a very wide range,especially gives a high attention to the verb-resultative construction.In form,the verb-resultative construction is very concise.Generally it is composed of a verb and a component of the results of the predicate,but its internal semantic relations are complex.It is also an important language phenomenon that distinguishes Chinese from other languages.With the continuous deepening of the study of the verb-resultative construction,the phenomenon of the verb-resultative construction with objects has also received more and more attention.This article mainly analyzes the restrictive conditions of the construction“VR+O” with various aspects,and tries to use Generative Lexicon Theory to explore its internal regularity.The article is divided into five parts.There are three chapters besides the introduction and conclusion.The first part is introduction.This chapter briefly introduces the significance of the topic of the article,the current research status of this topic in the academic world,and research methods and corpus sources used in this study.The second part is the study on the ontology-based of the structure.Firstly,we define the verb-resultative construction and the verb-resultative construction with objects of “VR+O”,and classify the structure according to the qualities of verbs and complement as well as the semantic relationship between verbs and objects.At the same time,we filter the the complement corpus,identify verbs and adjective complements that can enter the structure,and briefly discussing the effect of semantic orientation of complements on the "VR + O" structure.The third part mainly analyzes the influence of verbs on the structure of "VR +O".Firstly,we filter all single and double syllable verbs in the Dictionary of Chinese Verb Usage,and select verbs that can serve as a predicate and the verbs that serve as complements.Based on the Generative Lexicon Theory,starting from the qualia structure and event structure of verbs,we analyze verbs that can enter the "VR + O" structure.The fourth part discusses the type of objects in the “VR+O” structure and the conditions applicable to the object in the structure,the integration of the “VR+O”structure and different integration of the “VR+O” structure according to the qualia structure and the vocabulary combination mechanism in the thesaurus.This paper analyzes the semantics of action-driven semantic combination and discusses the influence of the object’s qualia role on the semantic choice and composition of the verbally-comprising object-based structure.The fifth part is the conclusion part,which summarizes the specific content,main points and deficiencies of this article..
