Style is the soul of literary works, which shows the wisdom of writers. In the process of translation, it is always a challenge for the translator to convey the style of the original text to the target-text reader. Stylistics just functions as an effective tool to analyze and express the style of source-text. By analyzing the lexis, grammar, rhetoric, cohesion and context, the method of stylistic analysis put forward by Leech and Short helps the translator understand the stylistic features of the source-text better, shedding light on the translation of different styles, especially the fictional prose. The chosen text is an excerpt from Harlem is Nowhere, a national book critics circle award finalist. This book is like a collage characterized by the inclusion of texts of various styles, containing the literary part as well as the non-literary part, such as excerpts from newspaper or scrawls on the street, which all have unique stylistic features. By applying stylistics to translation, this thesis analyses the source-text from the perspectives of lexis, grammar, rhetoric, cohesion and context according to specific situations of the text, enabling the translation to retain the features of different styles and achieve the artistic effect of the source-text.
