From the beginning of human society, consumption has always played an important role. On the one hand, consumption promotes the development of productive force, stimulates the development of social economy and human society. On the other hand, there are also some negative influences to human. People consumption concept and patterns have changed since the Second World War. In the West, alienation from the field of labor has extended to the field of consumption. Since reform and opening up in our country, people’s consumption behavior has appeared abnormal phenomenon. The alienation of consumption has negative impacts on people’s development, threat to country stability and world peace. And it becomes an important factor to cause the crisis of human survival.In late19th, the material living conditions were relatively poor. Because of the historical limitations, although Marx was not analysis of consumption alienation in detail, his idea reflected in his paper. In the middle of the20th Century, systematic consumption alienation theory appeared which were proposed by Marcus, Fromm, Baudrillard and Ecological Marxists. Their theory has important for studying the phenomenon of consumption alienation currently.This paper use the Marxist viewpoint and based on Marx’s idea of consumption alienation, analyze and summarize some consumption alienation theory. Based on the specific conditions of China’s social and economic, adhere to scientific development concept and Marx’s theory in order to further research on the theory of consumption alienation, people’s overall development and scientific consumption, provide a basis for walking out of misunderstanding of consumption and constructing a harmonious society.
