With the deepening of globalization, the translation market, like all the otherbusinesses, is thriving and boosting. As we all know, translators are the mostfundamental element in translation market. If they cannot do their work well duringthe process of translating a book, the following publishing work will become muchmore complicated. Therefore, translators’ training, namely how to improve translators’efficiency, is extremely important. As to this question, the corpora can be the answer. However, a lot of huge corpora and their professional software are protected byintellectual property right, which impedes the spread and application of corpora. As aresult, the common translators can just drool over the corpora while the expertsmonopolize them. In fact, translators can build some small corpora all by themselvesin opposition to this monopolization. The author will conduct empirical research in this thesis, including the pre-testand the post test. The participants are20students from MTI Education Center inShandong Normal University. In pre-test, the participants translate text A with thetime limit of90minutes using conventional resources; in post-test, they will spend thesame time translating text B with the help of a self-constructed corpus. Of course, they will learn some details about self-constructed corpora before the post-test.Accomplishing the task of translating text B, the participants are asked to finish aquestionnaire related to the present study. Then I analyze the results of the tests andthe questionnaire.
