Achille-Claude Debussy is a quite influential composer and innovator in European musicworld in the period of the late nineteenth century and the early twentieth century. He is thefounder of modern impressionism music who has far-reaching impacts on music in everyEuropean countries. His music has epoch-making significance, especially his uniqueimpressionism style which has direct effects on modern music in twentieth century and one ofhis piano works named Estampes is a model of impressionism music.This paper starts with the piano music of Debussy and makes analysis of three works in hispiano work Estampes to draw their acoustic features. Then it also presents thoughts about how tointerpret the tone and the connotation of impressionism works better. Besides, it providestheoretical foundations on how to learn expressionism works.By analyzing layers of sound ofthree works in Estampes, harmonic sound, creation techniques of music and performance ofWalter Gieseking in stage, this paper helps readers learn and comprehend the style ofimpressionism music and and understand its artistic connotation. Meanwhile, this paper has acertain reference value on how to play piano works of Debussy. A comprehensive analysis on thesound of works can help readers comprehend acoustic features of impressionism music and alsoknow clearly about how Debussy makes his music endowed with a sense of pictures.
