Abstract:In313AD, emperor Constantine’s edict of Milan, for plastic arts in medieval Europe to form a new aesthetic practical principle, use religious images to express the content of the painting,, draw the image content in the visual range, provides a field for the transmission of cultural values. There is no doubt that the art form which is under the influence of the religious right form has become our new research field. In this paper, the perspective of medieval religious images, the integrated use of literature review method, empirical analysis and method of image study to comprehensive interpretation of artistic thinking transformation, this paper is divided into six chapters altogether:The first chapter is the introduction introduces the medieval religious image of the selected topic reason, value analysis> research methods> Christian thought which was under repression firstly became spiritual leadership position. The image of the symbolic visual pleasure, transmission mechanism of the late art had a profound impact.The second chapter discusses the medieval religious images produced by the social basis, The spirit of eternal beauty of the object which was out from the real world was portray directly by artists, the image card caused a medieval art history of ideas, and western art history’s first case.The third chapter on religious image symbols, Medieval art is different from previous coverage of traditional aesthetic concepts formed on the surface, and it is on previous art with religious culture as the mainstream.
