The Retrospection And Exploration On The Academic Research Progress Of The Dian Culture

The Dian Culture originated from mid and late Warring States Period and declined at end of Western Han Dynasty. After years’ development, it comes to its peak period for almost four hundred years, which creates brilliant bronze culture with strong local characteristics. The culture adds splendid creditability to the Chinese even the world’s archaeology for the time-honored history, delicacy of the craftsmanship, unique and richful connotation.Archaeological excavation of the Dian culture begins in1950s. In March1955, scholars have excavated Jinning Shizhaishan ancient tomb sites, achieving plentiful research findings in the span of60years, which provides rich and precious materials for study of Yunnan local bronze culture.The object of this dissertation is to study the research progress of local bronze culture in terms of starting period in1950s and1960s, developing period in1970s and1980s, the first peak period from1990s to2010and the one in the new era. Based on the Philology, method of comparative study and the Statistics and accomplishments done by scholars, this paper will make a complete classification that is concluding academic research in different periods of the local bronze culture of domestic scholars in the thread of timing. In accordance with the above study, summary and assessment will be given to each study period of the Dian Culture.
