The Study Of Korean Conjecture Modality And Corresponding Form In Chinese

Human beings communicate with each other through language. Language is not only to convey the content itself, but also to convey the speakers’ subjective emotion and psychological attitude about the content. In linguistics, the thing itself is called "propositional content", the speakers’subjective emotion and psychological attitude is called "modality". Among them, when the speakers express uncertainty or speculation about "propositional content", the "modality" is called "conjecture modality". Conjecture modality plays an important role in both Korean and Chinese. It can not only express the speakers’ uncertainty or speculation about "propositional content’", but also can express their views euphemistically, avoid the talking responsibility and consider the listeners’position. Therefore, this article will discuss Korean conjecture modality and the corresponding form in Chinese, which will be helpful to Korean learners and Chinese learners.This article mainly selects three different degrees of conjecture modality performances,discusses their semantic features and syntactic characteristics and will compare the similarities and differences of the three usages. Meanwhile, this article explores the three conjecture modality performances’corresponding form in Chinese and trys to analyze the underlying reasons. Specifically, the article includes the following four parts.The first part is an introduction. It introduces the purpose and significance of this article, previous research, research methods and content.The second part focuses on the semantic features and syntactic features of the three Korean conjecture modality performances. First of all, as the theoretical background, this part introduces the concept of Korean conjecture modality and classification. Then, it describes the , s semantic features and syntactic features by a large number of sentences Finally, this part compares compare the similarities and differences of the three usages.The third part introduces the Korean conjecture modality, (?)"s corresponding form in Chinese and tries to analyze the underlying causes.The fourth part is the conclusion.This part summarizes the main content and viewpoint of the foregoing,and points out the shortcomings and future research directions of the article.
