To singers, vocal longevity is tantamount to singing career longevity. When phonation science is not harnessed and good vocal hygiene neglected, vocal diseases are inevitably prone to happen.Laryngeal myasthenia in vocal art is a common disease among vocal users. It is a classic disease type where phonation science and vocal hygiene is poorly practiced. Artistic voice laryngeal myasthenia is still a rare topic of research and testing in our current vocal arts and medicine world. The lack of an effective therapy jeopardizes the healthy development in vocal arts as well. Perhaps the next big question to be faced by both the artistic voice medicine and vocal world would be how to handle artistic voice laryngeal myasthenia—to explore ways to improve singing performance ability of someone with artistic voice laryngeal myasthenia, so as to effectively control the rate of contracting artistic voice laryngeal myasthenia.Unlike ordinary vocal strength training and methods, the improvement for artistic voice laryngeal myasthenia requires certain principles and methods to be employed during the training. This article employs research methods such as bibliographical research, survey, case studies and so on, beginning from phonetic malpractices to analyze the physio-pathological mechanism of artistic voice laryngeal myasthenia and its causes—both objectively and subjectively. Based on singing malpractices, vocal tolerance and psychological traits of artistic voice laryngeal myasthenia patients, principles and requirements for improvement training are derived. Some examples include training controlled breathing with minimal phonation exhaustion, maintaining balance of vocal position, employing pivotal auxiliary functions to balance phonation etc. Combining both medical vocal treatment and hygiene, to assist artistic voice laryngeal myasthenia patients in improving and increasing their singing performance ability, it is hoped that the modern singing behavioral practice will further promote phonation science and hygiene. Honoring science and medicine, acquiring vocal-related knowledge in artistic voice medicine, and loving the invaluable instrument in oneself, is a sure way to sustaining longevity in singing and keeping it forever “young”.
