The worship of sacred lake and pilgrimage has been one of traditional culture in Tibet since Tibetan empire period. Mtsho sngon khri shor rgyal mo, as one of the four sacred lakes in Tibet, it has important influence on both in Tibetan Buddhism and local folk beliefs. Khri shor rgyal mo region was Qiang, Rong, A-zha, Tibet, China Tang dynasty and Mongolian forces for military powerhouse historically. But its status, influence and historical role in the Tibetan culture system, are significant uncomparatively. The indigenous Tibetan closely linked scared lake Khri shor rgyal mo historically, geographically and culturally. The connection of Tibetan people with the scared lake is not only reflected in contemporary Tibetan traditional religious practices such as worship and pilgrimage, but also reflected in the myths, legends, folk tales, folk songs, mantras, and offering words and poems both in oral and written literature.Besides the introduction and conclusion, this paper is divided into four chapters. Introduction summarizes the domestic and foreign research on Khri shor rgyal mo. It shows the research goals and main methods in this thesis.The first chapter summarizes the worship and pilgrimage of sacred lake in Tibet generally. It describes the concepts of holy land, scared lake and pilgrimage in Tibetan discourse.The second chapter discusses the original names of Khri shor rgyal mo occurred in Chinese and Tibetan literature and its connotations respectively. Secondly describes the sanctification of Khri shor rgyal mo and the important relics and two famous lama meditated there historically.The third chapter is the core part of the thesis. This chapter mainly shows the characteristics and classification of the Tibetan ecological literature. It also listed the genres of literature related to Khri shor rgyal mo, such as myths, legends, folk tales, folk songs, mantras, and offering words and poems.The fourth chapter is the description and explanation of the major themes of a view from the rituals of Khri shor rgyal mo during the worship and religious practices.Finally, this thesis concludes that worship of sacred lake has been the fundament of social-ecological systems in Tibet.
