Liu Zhenyun’s "Hometown Series" includes Village Head, Hometown Chrysanthemum, Hometown Relations and Hometown flowers and some other novels. In his view, history is cycling, occational and trifling instead of developing, inevitable and completed. Desire is the power to promote the development of society and it expresses itself into three related aspects:desire to live, desire for power and physical desire. History is the history of people, so it needs people to play. In his articles, he shaped three kinds of characters:heroes, peasants and intellectuals. Through his vulgar and comic writing, he restored the essence of history. Under the influence of postmodernism, history is no longer completed. Instead, it becomes the fragmented and complanate existence and it’s mingled with the present to appear the historical absurdity in ridicule.
