Gujiao is located in the north-central of Shanxi Province, northwest of Taiyuan, is a county-level city of Taiyuan. Gujiao dialect belongs to the Bingzhou dialects of Jin Dialect. Gujiao dialect can be divided into the north dialect area, the South dialect area and the west dialect area. This paper deals with the north area dialect(Hekou dialect) system.The content include the dialect phonology, the literary and colloquial readings, the tone sandhi and the phonetic development. This paper consists of seven chapters.The first chapter is the introduction, it mainly introduces the research significance, the research present situation, the research content of this paper, the material sources and other issues.The second chapter is the summary, it introduces the situation of Gujiao, including geography, administration, population and history, and the characterisation of Gujiao dialect, including the adscription, the phonetic features, the internal differences and the classification.The third chapter is the dialect phonology, it introduces the phonology and its features.The fourth chapter is the literary and colloquial readings, it mainly introduces the situation of read difference from two aspects, initial and final.The fifth chapter is the tone sandhi, it introduces the tone sandhi, summarizes the rules and characteristics of two words tone sandi.The sixth chapter and the seventh chapter is the phonetic development. The sixth chapter describes the evolution between Gujiao dialect pronunciation and the middle ancient pronunciation.The seventh chapter is the monographic study of the phonetic development.About the phonology system and historical evolution of Gujiao dialect, we can draw the following conclusions:Firstly, Gujiao dialect have four tone which are [33] [31] [45] [21]; Pingsheng is not divided into yinping and yangping, and rusheng is not divided into yinru and yangru. It is the prominent characteristics of the "alternative" in Bingzhou dialects of Jin Dialect.Secondly,the pronunciation types and planes of MC Voiced Initials,such as"ti33/t‘i33"(提定).Thirdly, the evolution of dental consonants and the apicalization of initials, such as "ji[??45]"(祭) "qi[?‘?33]"(妻) and "xu[s?33]"(虚).Fourthly, [n] has four conditioned variant forms which are [n ? nz nd], such as "nan[n?33]"(南) "niu[?i33]"(牛) "ni[nz?31]"(你) and "nu[ndu31]"(努).Fifthly,the pronunciation of Dang-jiang Group(宕江摄)is[u?y?].It is an independent rhyme class.Finally, "neutral tone" is in the developing stage, the neutral tone is mainly in the grammar neutral word.The subject of the phonetic system of Gujiao dialect is a comprehensive description and analysis, can provide a corpus and a necessary supplement for further research of the Bingzhou dialects of Jin Dialect, it is also a valuable reference in the comparative study of Mandarin and the study of Chinese dialect.
