Research On The Poetry On Poor Female In Tang Dynasty

As a strong symbolic social role, poor females were the significant characters in the poems of Tang Dynasty. After An Lushan Rebellion, poets created numerous poetries of poor female to reflect the females’ extremely poor living conditions and sadness, and they had changed their former habits of writing the poor females as a foil in the early flourishing Tang Dynasty, so that the content and mental state of poems in Tang Dynasty were greatly widened. There were a lot of masterpieces handed down from Tang Dynasty’s poetry on poor female, which won a place in the history of Tang poetry by its unique content, precious historical data value, distinctive artistic features and rich cultural implication. As a literary work and also as a literary phenomenon, poetry on poor female was not systematically arranged and evaluated by academic circles before then.This paper plans to research the artistic characteristics and cultural connotation based on the poetry’s developing context and content. And it was divided into five chapters: the first chapter defines the definition and category of poetry on poor female and differentiated as well as analyzes the differences between other poems and it. The second chapter systemizes the general developing context about poetry on poor female in Tang Dynasty. The third chapter summarized its main content on features of character image. The fourth chapter discusses the social cultural characteristics reflected by the productive poetry on poor female. It reflects the phenomenon that poor females were hard to marry and were abandoned easily caused by their economic problems, the concept of family status and money marriage ethos at that time. More and more poor and lonely women appeared because of gender oppression and social instability. This chapter also explores the anabatic fetters of psychology of creation and the change of poetic style of poor female poetry writers. The fifth chapter summarizes the main artistic characteristics of poetry on poor female, which deeply excavates its artistic values and social influences form the aspects of realistic spirit, management of image, description techniques and aesthetic orientation so as to obtain the innovative achievement on the research of poetry on poor female in Tang Dynasty.
