Professor Rod Ellis, is engaged in applied language studies and applied linguistics at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. As a leading theorist of task-based language learning, his research interests include second language acquisition, individual learner differences, form- focused instruction, teacher education, course design and methodology of language teaching. He has also published two books and more than a dozen articles on the subject.The translation task deals with Ellis’ article Does Form-Focused Instruction Affect the Acquisition of Implicit Knowledge: A Review of the Research. In this article, the author addresses whether FFI can have a direct effect on implic it knowledge by reviewing 11 studies that have examined the effect of FFI on learners’ free production. Under the guidance of C hesterman’s Translation Norms, the report focuses on the translation of terminologies, long sentences and the text style respectively.This translation report is divided into four chapters. Chapter One is the description of the translation project. C hapter Two is devoted to the process of translation and the strategies dealing with long sentences and terminologies. C hapter Three is an account for the distinguishing features with lexis, syntax and text style of the source text, and the translation case analysis. C hapter Four concludes with the inspiration and lessons from this project.
