Enter Into The World Of Lace-Analysis Of The Lace In Modern Art And My Creative Practice

Appeared in Europe, lace, has been pursued fervently by the gentry for it was acted as auxiliary materials in clothing initially. After centuries of development, its application forms and methods are richer and richer; furthermore, lace has been used largely in the design of clothing and become a darling of the fashion world. Meanwhile, due to the appearance frequently of lace in modern art, lace has been blended in artistic creation by amounts of artists in special ways and given a new vitality. In these works, lace is not only the elegant decorations but also the carrier of artists’ emotion. This paper analyses the lace in artists’ works at home and aboard of Gao Xi, XuHualing, Matazo Kayama, tries to explore the application forms and artistic features of lace in modern art, especially in the intentional emotions of different works that artists want to explore, and conducts further thinking coupled with the author’s creative practices.
