In this paper, the explanation of Ogyu Sorai of the Reconstructed School and Motoori Norinaga of National School are the main study objects, the author trying to find the similarities and differences between the former’s “the way of former kings” and the latter’s the word of god. At the same time, the author intend to explore the Nature and influence of this two kind of Taos.In the process of going to expand this thesis, first, the author introduces the meaning and concept of the Tao. The meaning and concept of Tao is connected with the development stage of the Tao. In history of Japan, the Tao mainly got through three developmental stages, including real object stage, theoretical stage and Japanese stage. The Tao of real object refers to the concrete things, such as the road, etc. The Tao of theorizing is up to a higher altitude, it mainly refers to the spirit, skill and arts. The Japanese Tao had sublimated into a special cultural pattern which relevant to the Japan. This thesis is focus on the third “Tao”, that is, Japanese Tao.Then, the author briefly explains the Yamaga Soko’s “the Tao of sage” of and Jinsai Ito’s “the doctrines of Confucius and Mencius” of the Reconstructed School, the author mainly analyses the “the way of former kings” of Ogyu Sorai. And then, the author briefly introduces the Kadano Azumamaro “Shinto” and the Tao of God Emperor of national school, and “the word of God” of Motoori Norinaga is detailed explained. The author analyzes the similarities between the Ogyu Sorai’s “the way of former kings” and Motoori Norinaga’s “the word of God” from three aspects---the criticism objects of Tao, the methodology of Tao and the background of Tao; and also analyzes the difference from three aspects---the contents of Tao, the original of Tao and the maker of Tao.Finally, based on the above study, ascertain the nature of Ogyu Sorai’s “the way of former kings” and Motoori Norinaga’s “the word of God”, in other words, practical purposes and influence of Tao.
