Edwin York Bowen(1886--1961)is a very important musician in the late of Romanticism in Britain. He is not only set the pianist,composer,an educator in all, but also the number of piano music creation more than other composers in Britain into the first place. Since he was 23 years old, he has taught at his old school Royal Academy of Music for 50 years. During this time,he has created music incessantly and given music concerts termly. Even he has written the books about the playing technique theories of piano called 《 The Simplicity of Piano Technique 》 and《Pedalling the Morden Pianoforte》.In the time of collision in the romantic music and modern music,he insisted on romanticism and was considered to be“the worst”,even the once be forgotten. Fortunately,after his death in 20 years,his work appeared in the renaissance,people began to realize the importance of this British romantic musician.This article will introduce into three chapters of the British musician, of which the first chapter mainly introduces the life of bowen and his music activities;The second chapter for research and analysis of his piano music creation;Third chapter combined with one of his representative works of piano playing techniques "twelve studies Op. 46" and theory books " The Simplicity of Piano Technique " to interpret the piano technique theory and demonstrates the importance and rationality.I Hope that this article for many people in the music introduce the musician as well as to the general provide pianist technology theory reference.
