In Twentieth Century 40’s,Henan in the Huayuankou event,drought,plague of locusts and so on natural and man-made disasters under the joint action have occurred a serious famine.The thesis explain and summarize the multiple famine narrative that around the human famine,and find out the famine,as social events,its intrinsic relationship with politics,art,etc.On this basis,explore three basic topics covered in the famine narrative:political judgement,the present of national character,the quest of human nature.At the political level,the famine narrative regard “food” and “soil” that as the most basic human survival data as narrative elements to achieve the political effectiveness evaluation.At the cultural level,the famine narrative through the rendering of the central plains farmer character and moral, excavate the role of the historical suffering for construct of national character and national culture spiritual.Famine narrative also discussed the nature of people in extreme situations in philosophy level,to confirmed the “living”nature of people, so as to construct the new concept of history that with ”people” at the core.The famine narrative examine and weigh the national characters and humanity in extreme environments,make its in front of the subsistence crisis to be maximum,reveal its the most essential characteristics.In this paper,the theoretical basis for Narratology,with the method of close reading,comparative analysis on the transversal,delve deeper on the vertical.Through the perspective of famine narrative,studied in-depth of national character and humanity in narrative,thus achieve the discussion’s goal of relationship between the social,political,cultural expression.
