Sitcoms were created in the United States, and it is famous for its humorous style.The plots of sitcoms usually played indoors, and its stage effects and lens switching seemto be relatively simple when compared with movies and TV series. Meanwhile, oneepisode in it often lasts just25minites.Above all, the humorous lines are the most vitalfactor in the success of sitcoms.This paper selects the award-winning, newly broadcast sitcom The Big Bang Theory6as the corpus, and analyze them from the point of Pragmatics, then try to figure out themechanisms of humor in The Big Bang Theory6.The analytical perspective includes twoaspects, the first point is the analyze of the usually used humor mechanism in The BigBang Theory6, and the second angle is focused on how humor works on the sensitivetopic in The Big Bang Theory6,and try to generalize the methods in dealing with sensitivetopics.America is a country of diverse culture and inclusive background, through the massmedia, a great amount of TV shows, movies, and sitcoms and so on will show thecharacteristics of multi-cultural background. For example, there are relatively sensitivetopics, such as political issues, the conditions of other countries, history, the vulnerablegroups and so on. However, when dealing with these sensitive topics, there are fantasticmethods to turn the topics into positive humor.In this article, I will focus on sensitive issues involved in The Big Bang Theory6,andanalyze the processing method of sensitive topics, then find out how can they ensure thehumorous atmosphere and avoid the audiences feeling of being hurt or dislike, or reducethe degree of humor funny extent in the meantime.
