This thesis mainly studies the film editing and the lens language in the inspiring short film“APeculiar Journey”.In today’s fast-tempo society, the demands for short films are incr easing. The conception and innovation of every film editor brings different visual effects a nd psychological reflection to audience. Due to the difference in film category and conten t, there is the difference in how to use the lens language, which depends on the audience d emands and the story development. A complete story is told through dividing and connecti ng different camera shots. The 20-minute film was made in 5 weeks, the first week for shooting and the last four for post-production. “Peculiar Journey” is an inspirational film targeting college students. The story is about college students who are hunting for jobs and tries to warn that college students should be stable instead of being impatient in their jobs. They should have their own dream and make it come true through their efforts. The parents should grant enough freedom to their children without imposing ideas onto them. I choose Dong Zhuang Village of Pingshan County as the set because it matches the story in that it’s very difficult for the children in this village to go out of the mountains. The villagers showed their hospitality and were willing to act in crowd scenes. In the film, I intend to show a reality that the majority of parents plan the future for their children without listening to their own ideas. Parents should help their children with their future plan in another way to let the children choose for themselves. It encourages the youngsters starting their first jobs to work hard and proceed toward a bright future.
